this pattern was designed exclusively for from field to skin’s first ever fibreshed experience box, celebrating the pembina fibreshed. it went live for the general public in march 2019.

you’d think that wild bergamot would be a variation of that delicious ingredient in earl grey tea, but it’s actually a wildflower member of the mint family. also known as bee balm, this north american native is a marvelous addition to your pollinator garden. while you can use the leaves to make tea, it’s more likely that you’ll just enjoy the hummingbirds and bees hovering around your yard as they visit the pompom-esque blooms.

although this hat doesn’t include a pompom, it is inspired by the wild bergamot blooms around manitoba. sized for most adult heads, you can celebrate the pembina fibreshed by using naturally dyed yarn that mimics the pink of the flower that inspires it, or opt for a fleece-specific undyed sheep shade to knit your hats.
