in the classroom

ash has been a teacher and educator for youth since 2005. they have taught in both public and private schools, in theatre programs, at youth conferences, and in workshops.

ash is particularly adept at adjusting their class content and teaching style to suit whatever age, class size, and student dynamics are at play (they credit their many years in theatre, particularly improv, for that very useful skill). ash has taught youth from nursery through grade 12 in manitoba, ontario, and nova scotia, on top of teaching adults and older youth around the world through both in-person and online classes.

manitoba-based educators and school administrators can bring ash in to teach natural dyeing either directly or via the artists in schools program through manitoba arts council.

as of spring 2023, ash has begun developing natural dyeing curriculum for school-aged students (kindergarten-grade 12), organized by developmental stage. they hope to have this made widely available by the 2024/25 school year. please get in touch if you would like to support this project, and join the newsletter below to be alerted when the curriculum is available.
