this pattern started off with inspiration from a literary series and fictional world that has had an integral place in my life for the past two decades. part of the way through the designing process, the author took a position that harmed my community, highlighting their ability to disappoint once again and causing me to think about how i navigate processing the intersection of holding elders accountable, how i engage with their work and whether i continue to engage with it, and how i can try to be a better elder myself.

this pattern didn't have a name for a long time. sorting it out felt particularly appropriate. 50% of all sales are being donated to camp aurora, a summer camp for queer kids, and ocama collective, a group of ibpoc birth workers dedicated to the reclamation of traditional and holistic childbearing and birthing practices amongst queer and trans ibpoc folx.
