making: broadcast quilt wall hanging

fun fact about me: i have a mild obsession with quilts. i’ve sewn several over the years, and my ultimate quilt dream is a king-sized hand sewn quilt made entirely with naturally dyed fabrics from my pots.

one of our family stories is of me as a baby toddling up to the big old radio we had in the living room and whacking it every time the cbc chimed on the hour (a classic sound for any canadian). so when i saw the broadcast quilt by brigit gail, i knew i had to make one for my parents as a gift. i opted for the wall hanging size and used fableism fabrics to make one in the vintage cbc logo colours.

it was a quick and easy sew, which may be because i’m so used to sewing curves with all the bra sewing that i do.

i never pretend to be a perfect quilt sewer, or perfect anything sewer - my ocd is more concerned about colour placement than perfectly stitching in the ditch (thankfully). while i haven’t shared as much about my quilting adventures at this point, i do have a quilt pattern included in sanctuary, and if making a naturally dyed bed is as exciting to you as a naturally dyed sweater, natural dyeing 101 can help you out with both! i’m excited to share more of my quilts with you in the future too - the newsletter is always going to be the best place to stay up to date with whatever i’m up to.
