2019 make nine: handmade wardrobe

alright, let’s see if i can be a little more organized with my 2019 make nine goals, at least as far as sharing them with you all. i’ve got more of a sew frosting feel for this year’s goals, along with some more specific skills i want to hone (better at finishings and small seams, closer fitting garments, matching prints, and working with different types of fabrics). here’s my list for 2019 (technically it’s ten items, but whatever):

1-3: harriet black lace bra, matching high-waisted undies, and a wiksten haori with boiled wool

4-6: fairfield button-up in checked flannel, black ginger jeans, and a silk noil ogden

7: kelly anorak in waxed canvas

8-10: alberta street pencil skirt, another hinterland hack crop top, and merino leggings

of course, there are some items i’m taking for granted, like a metamorphic dress using the two linens above for my next photoshoot in march, silk pjs, 5 new knit design collections, and getting started on my next two books of designs. i have some making plans for others too, including a naturally dyed quilt that i owe my parents, at least one fairfield shirt for the same photoshoot mentioned above, quadra jeans for the boys…

i also have a list of things i want to make for my home, including finishing off the twin-sized naturally dyed quilt i started last year, a half-square triangle quilt using my bundle of robert kaufman essex yarn dyed linens, these baskets for my office space using scraps from last year’s wardrobe makes, poster hangers for a couple of patches i want to hang in my bedroom, and this embroidery kit that i want to add to my bedroom wall as well. we’ll see how much gets accomplished over the year. i’m excited to make my home a more settled, cozy, and organized nest to share with willow and come back to after travels.
